Spanish Eyes
The Croughton Wine Appreciation Group started the New Year with an exploration of Spanish wine. Our tutor was Bill Austin who, as many of you will remember, did an excellent job at previous events teaching us about wines and wine tasting. For this event, Bill chose an interesting selection of wines for us to try including cava, rioja and sherry. The range of wines was very varied and the scores varied quite a lot as well. We did not get on too well with the sherry - but one of hte reds we tried was the highest scoring red we have ever had.
The favourite White was Waitrose: Marques de Murrieta, Capellanía 2004 Reserva Rioja. It scored 3.39 out of 5.
The favourite Red was Majestic: Casa del Comendador Gran Reserva Rioja 2002, Lagunilla. It scored 4.23 out of 5.
The scores are here.
