December 2010

Not sure which wines to choose for Christmas? This year we used the 2010 Decanter World Wine Awards as our guide and each wine we tasted had been awarded a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Regional / International Trophy medal. Decanter Magazine’s annual awards provide an indication of the best examples of wines from around the world, and each medal winner has stood out among the thousands of other entries.

We picked out wines that are available from the major retailers, and unearthed some good value, quality wines (most are under £10).

The favourite White was Oddbins: Villa Maria Reserve, Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Marlborough, New Zealand. It scored 3.75 out of 5.

The favourite Red was Asda: Vin?alba Malbec Syrah 2008, Patagonia, Argentina. It scored 3.94 out of 5.
